Formula Composition

Chief Herb

Ban Xia — Pinellia Rhizome (Pinellia ternata)

Dries Dampness, transforms Phlegm, descends rebellious Qi, and harmonizes the Stomach. The primary herb for dissolving phlegm accumulations in the throat.

Deputy Herb

Hou Po — Magnolia Bark (Magnolia officinalis)

Moves Qi downward, dries Dampness, transforms Phlegm, and relieves fullness and distension. Addresses the root stagnation causing phlegm accumulation.

Assistant Herbs

Fu Ling — Poria (Poria cocos)

Strengthens the Spleen and drains Dampness, addressing the root cause of phlegm production at its source.

Zi Su Ye — Perilla Leaf (Perilla frutescens)

Spreads constrained Lung and Liver Qi, resolves phlegm from the Lungs, and harmonizes the middle burner. Addresses the emotional component of the pattern.

Sheng Jiang — Fresh Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
