Formula Composition

Chief Herb

Ban Xia — Pinellia Rhizome (Pinellia ternata)

Dries Dampness, transforms Phlegm, descends rebellious Qi, harmonizes Stomach, and stops nausea. The most important phlegm-resolving herb in Chinese medicine.

Deputy Herb

Chen Pi — Tangerine Peel (Citrus reticulata)

Moves Qi and dries Dampness, strengthens the Spleen and transforms Phlegm. Moving Qi is essential for resolving phlegm accumulation.

Assistant Herbs

Fu Ling — Poria (Poria cocos)

Strengthens the Spleen, drains Dampness, and calms the Shen. Addresses the root cause of phlegm by strengthening Spleen transformation.

Wu Mei — Mume Fruit (Prunus mume)

Astringes and prevents over-drying from the formula. Prevents loss of fluids while the other herbs dry dampness.

Envoy Herb

Zhi Gan Cao — Honey-fried Licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)

Tonifies Qi, harmonizes all herbs, and moderates the drying nature of the formula.
